US President Donald Trump has been presented with several military options by the Pentagon, including a controversial scenario involving the targeted killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and his son Mojtaba Khamenei, according to a report by Axios.
Senior administration officials said no final decision has been taken and Trump is maintaining strategic ambiguity while weighing options. The White House has declined to confirm specific plans, stating that only the president knows what course of action he may choose.
Meanwhile, the US has significantly increased its military presence in the region, deploying advanced fighter jets and naval assets, including the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and the USS Gerald R. Ford strike group.
The military build-up comes as Washington pressures Tehran to agree to a nuclear deal, warning of consequences if negotiations fail. Any strike on Iran’s leadership would mark a major escalation and could destabilise the Middle East.
