The decomposed body of an unidentified youth was recovered from a roadside area in Tanarada village under Belaguntha police station limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Tuesday. The discovery has raised suspicion of a possible murder case.
According to initial reports, the body was found near agricultural land along the main road and was in a highly decomposed state, suggesting that the victim may have been killed several days earlier. Local residents first noticed a strong foul smell while passing through the road in the morning. Upon checking the nearby area, they discovered the body lying beside the road and immediately alerted the police.
Police personnel soon reached the scene and began a preliminary investigation. Authorities suspect the youth might have been murdered elsewhere and his body later dumped near the roadside to avoid detection.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been established. Officials believe the body may have been lying at the spot for around three to four days before being discovered. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and police have launched a detailed investigation to determine the cause of death and identify the victim.
