In a shocking case from Tikwapur village, Kanpur, police and workers unearthed a skeleton buried seven feet underground, later identified as Reshma, a 45-year-old mother of seven. Reshma had gone missing nearly 10 months ago after being in a relationship with her neighbor, Gorelal, following the death of her husband three years prior. Her son, Babloo, had grown suspicious after receiving evasive replies from Gorelal and filed a missing person complaint in December.
During questioning, Gorelal admitted that a quarrel in April last year led him to choke Reshma to death. Fearing discovery, he initially kept the body at home, then decided to bury it in a deserted spot in the village. The skeleton was recovered based on the location he revealed, and identification was confirmed by relatives through her jewellery and clothing. The remains have been sent for forensic examination, including DNA testing, as the investigation continues.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Deependra Nath Chudhary stated that Gorelal, along with two others suspected of involvement, is in custody. The gruesome discovery has revealed a tale of love, obsession, and betrayal, leaving the local community stunned.
