The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday conducted raids at five locations across Kolkata in connection with a multi-crore bank fraud and embezzlement case, intensifying central agency action following recent Enforcement Directorate operations in the city.
Officials described the operation as “combing searches,” carried out with reinforced security measures. One of the primary locations under scrutiny is a luxury high-rise apartment complex, Ganesh Court, on Plot No. 28, Alipore New Road.
CBI teams searched the fifth-floor residence of a businessman, which has emerged as a key focus of the probe. Security around the premises was tightened, with six paramilitary personnel stationed outside and two deployed inside during the operation.
The agency has not yet released details of any recoveries or the identities of those under investigation. Further updates are expected as the searches continue.
