BJD Suspension Row: Expelled Leader Shreemayee Mishra Criticizes Party Leadership on Social Media

The suspension of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLAs Arvind Mohapatra and Sanatan Mahakud has sparked fresh political reactions, with expelled party leader Shreemayee Mishra once again attacking the party leadership publicly. On Monday, Mishra posted a series of remarks on social media targeting BJD president Naveen Patnaik and senior leader V K Pandian.

Mishra questioned the decision to suspend the two MLAs in the name of party “discipline,” alleging that they were being falsely portrayed as corrupt or traitors, and raised the question of who the “real traitor” was amid growing dissent within the party.

Allegations Against LeadershipMishra claimed that Naveen Patnaik, despite his stature, had been trapped by his own decisions and accused him of favouring non-Odia elements, undermining the pride of Odisha. She alleged that by delegating effective control to what she termed a “fake ascetic,” the leadership was weakening the party’s structure built by long-standing workers. She also criticized the leadership for not publicly presenting evidence against the suspended MLAs to maintain transparency.

Strong Language and Social Media RemarksIn her posts, Mishra alleged that responsibilities were handed over to a Tamil couple to deliberately undermine Odia self-respect, describing it as “sadistic pleasure” rather than politics. She warned that the people of Odisha would not forgive those she called “brand ambassadors of betrayal,” using strong language to condemn the party’s current approach.

BackgroundShreemayee Mishra was previously expelled from the BJD after raising concerns about internal party functioning and opposing the withdrawal of an election ticket allegedly allotted to her. Her recent social media remarks have reignited debates over leadership decisions and internal dissent within the party.
