Bhubaneswar to get a major traffic boost with Jayadev Vihar–Nandankanan elevated corridor project.

Bhubaneswar is set to witness a major traffic overhaul with the launch of the Jayadev Vihar–Nandankanan elevated corridor, aimed at easing congestion and improving urban mobility. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will lay the foundation stone on Monday.

The corridor will span from Jayadev Vihar to Nandankanan, featuring flyovers at key junctions including Jayadev Vihar Square, Kalinga Hospital Square, Damana Square, and KIIT Square to ensure smooth traffic flow. A highlight of the project is a four-lane cable-stayed bridge at Jayadev Vihar Square, designed to decongest the busy intersection while adding a landmark structure to the cityscape.

Emphasizing environmental sustainability, the project will include the planting of 22,410 trees along both sides of the road. With an estimated cost of Rs 952 crore, the development will strengthen Bhubaneswar’s road network, enhance safety standards, and reduce travel time across one of the city’s busiest routes.

The foundation stone ceremony will coincide with Road Safety Month, reflecting the government’s focus on safer and more efficient urban infrastructure. Once completed, the elevated corridor is expected to significantly improve connectivity between residential, institutional, and commercial hubs along the stretch.
