Bargarh received a major developmental impetus on Tuesday as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled and laid foundation stones for a total of 123 projects worth ₹1,362 crore during the grand Dhanu Yatra celebrations held at the Rangamahal stage.
Of the total projects announced, foundation stones were laid for 85 new projects involving an investment of ₹980.58 crore, while 38 completed projects worth ₹382.26 crore were formally inaugurated. These initiatives are aimed at strengthening civic infrastructure, improving connectivity, and accelerating overall socio-economic development in the district.
Among the key announcements was the construction of a permanent Rangamahal stage, which will enhance the infrastructure supporting the world-famous Dhanu Yatra. The Chief Minister also laid the foundation for an in-stream reservoir on the Jira River, estimated to cost ₹114.87 crore, which is expected to significantly improve water management and irrigation facilities in the region.
Additionally, the state government announced four new major projects worth ₹380 crore for Bargarh district. These include the development of a modern sewage treatment plant on the Jira River, construction of a vending zone at Hatpada, establishment of an Atal Bus Stand at Bargarh Sadar, and another in-stream reservoir at Grindola.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to balanced regional development and assured timely completion of all announced projects. The initiatives are expected to enhance urban infrastructure, improve civic amenities, and support sustainable growth in Bargarh and surrounding areas.
