An armed robbery was reported late Monday night in Talmunda village under Laikera police station limits in Jharsuguda district, Odisha. According to the complaint, five masked miscreants broke into a house around 1 am while a couple was asleep.
The accused allegedly tied the hands and legs of the husband and wife, assaulted them, and looted nearly 15 tolas of gold ornaments along with approximately Rs 7 lakh in cash. The victims claimed the assailants were armed with swords, pistols, and other weapons and were speaking in Odia and Sambalpuri during the incident.
Jhili Nayak alleged that the gang forcibly entered after breaking open the door, assaulted them, and damaged their mobile phones before fleeing with valuables. Prakash Nayak said they handed over the keys to the almirah and lockers after being attacked.
Following the complaint, police have launched a detailed investigation. A forensic team visited the spot to collect evidence, and search operations are underway to trace and apprehend the accused.
