Mithila Palkar spreads her wings with Happy Patel — a leap of faith

Happy Patel, directed and headlined byVir Dasand backed byAamir Khan Productions, puts Mithila in unfamiliar territory — slapstick comedy, physical humour, action sequences, and even cussing on screen.

“It pushed me into a very different rhythm,” Mithila said, explaining how this film challenged everything she had done before.

A set that felt like a playground

Unlike conventional film sets,Happy Patelwas all about collaboration. Mithila recalled how phones were kept away, vanity vans were shared, and actors spent time playing games, singing and interacting.

“It felt less like a workplace and more like a creative space. That changed everything for us,” she said.

This energy, she believes, helped her stay spontaneous — essential for a full-blown comedy entertainer.

 Doing her own stunts

One of the biggest surprises is Mithila performingthree to four action sequences without a body double. She trained for weeks to pull them off and loved stepping into this physically demanding side of acting.

Playing aGoan girl, visually and emotionally different from her usual roles, also meant shedding the “sweet, relatable” image audiences associate with her.

 Reunion with Imran Khan

The film also reunites her withImran Khannearly a decade afterKatti Batti. Despite all the buzz around his comeback, Mithila says their equation stayed exactly the same.

“He’s still very sharp. It didn’t feel like so much time had passed,” she shared.

 Choosing growth over speed

Mithila doesn’t believe in the idea of a “right pace.”“I don’t know what the right pace is. I’m just grateful that I’m still working,” she said.

Coming from a non-film family, she once gave herself justone yearto make it in the industry. She still auditions for roles — includingHappy Patel— because, for her, good work matters more than shortcuts.

 What’s next

AfterHappy Patel, Mithila will be seen inBhooth Bangla, starringAkshay Kumar,Paresh RawalandRajpal Yadav, directed byPriyadarshan. She calls his sets “a madhouse in the best way.”

 A grounded star

Even as her career expands, Mithila remains rooted in gratitude and connection. She doesn’t chase stardom — she chases learning, curiosity and honest work.

As she says through her choices and words:She has wings — and she’s finally letting herself fly.
