A serious road accident was reported on Saturday night on National Highway-60 under Basta police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district. The incident occurred near Baulagadia when an unidentified vehicle allegedly rammed into a moving truck.
The impact caused extensive damage to the truck, trapping the driver inside the cabin. With the help of local residents and emergency responders, the injured driver was rescued and immediately shifted to Balasore Medical College and Hospital. Hospital authorities stated that his condition remains critical.
Police from Basta police station reached the accident site after receiving information and initiated an investigation. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, and the identity of the other vehicle involved remains unknown.
Traffic movement on NH-60 was temporarily disrupted but was restored after the damaged truck was removed. Police have urged motorists to exercise caution, especially while driving at night.
