A cattle-laden container overturned near Pachhei Chhak, behind Kiakata police station in Angul district on Saturday, creating a tragic and chaotic situation at the accident site. The container, reportedly en route to Sambalpur from Boudh, lost control and veered off the road before overturning.
The impact of the mishap left the driver and his helper trapped beneath the overturned vehicle. In addition to the human casualties, the accident caused the death of around35 cattle, which were being transported in the container at the time of the incident.
Following the mishap, Kiakata police and Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot with assistance from local residents. Rescue operations are underway to safely extract the trapped occupants. Authorities are yet to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Traffic movement was temporarily disrupted due to the overturned vehicle, while police have initiated a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the mishap.
