Four tourists from Uttar Pradesh, who went missing during a trip to Pangong Lake, have been safely rescued in Ladakh, police said.
The tourists – Yash Mittal, Shivam Chaudhary, Jaiveer Chaudhary, and Shadanshu Faujdar from Agra – lost contact with their families after heading to the lake on January 9. They mistakenly took the Leh-Manali road, which is currently closed due to snowfall, and got stranded.
Police launched a coordinated search operation, locating their vehicle, which had met with a minor accident, and extending the search to nearby areas including Debring and Whisky Nalla. The tourists were eventually found in a hut about 20 km from their vehicle.
They had spent two nights in their vehicle using its heating system before running out of fuel. All four were rescued in stable condition and provided with food, water, and necessary aid. They are expected to be reunited with their families upon reaching Leh on Wednesday.
