Zayn Malik is taking an honest look at his past relationship with Gigi Hadid, offering rare insight into how his perspective on love has changed over the years. Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the former One Direction singer admitted that although he deeply respects Hadid and will always care for her as the mother of his daughter Khai, he no longer believes he was truly “in love” during their time together.
Malik explained that his understanding of love continues to evolve with age and experience. He acknowledged that what he once believed to be love may have been something else, adding that maturity has reshaped how he defines emotional connection. Despite that reflection, he emphasised that his affection and gratitude toward Hadid remain strong, especially because they share a daughter.
The singer also admitted that if he had truly been in love, he believes he would have handled the relationship differently and shown up as a better version of himself. Malik candidly discussed mistakes from his younger years, including poor decisions in relationships, calling them lessons learned through growth and self-awareness.
After nearly six years together, Malik and Hadid ended their relationship in 2021. Since then, they have focused on co-parenting their daughter Khai, maintaining mutual respect while moving forward separately.
