A youth was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a hotel in the Pokhariput area of Bhubaneswar late on Thursday night, prompting a police investigation into the cause of death.
The deceased has been identified as Bubuna Pradhan. According to preliminary information, he had been in a live-in relationship with a young woman for the past six months. His sudden death has triggered serious allegations from family members, who suspect foul play.
As per the complaint lodged by the family, the woman had contacted them earlier in the day, informing them that Bubuna was unwell. However, later that night, his body was recovered in a hanging condition from a hotel room in Pokhariput.
The circumstances under which he checked into the hotel and the sequence of events leading up to his death remain unclear. Police officials stated that all aspects of the case are being thoroughly examined.
Upon receiving information, police reached the hotel, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Officials said the investigation is currently at a preliminary stage.
Authorities are probing all possible angles, including abetment and other related factors. Meanwhile, the woman who was reportedly in a relationship with the deceased is said to be untraceable. Police teams are making efforts to locate her and record her statement as part of the investigation.
Officials added that further clarity will emerge once the post-mortem report is received and additional evidence is collected. The case remains under active investigation.
