Former India cricketer and commentator Mohammad Kaif has praised Virat Kohli’s remarkable form and hunger for the game, saying the star batter no longer needs to play domestic cricket. Kohli has been in sensational form, scoring 240 runs in three innings during India’s recent ODI series against New Zealand, including a brilliant 124 off 108 balls in the third ODI.
Kaif highlighted Kohli’s consistency despite irregular appearances, attributing it to his passion, fitness, preparation, and deep knowledge of the game. “Virat comes, scores, and goes back to London. It’s not easy to score so consistently when you’re not playing regularly. His passion to represent India is unmatched,” Kaif said on his YouTube channel.
Since the third ODI against Australia in Sydney in 2025, Kohli has amassed 616 runs in seven innings at an average of 123.2 and a strike rate of 108.64, with three centuries and three fifties. His stellar performances have propelled him back to the top of the ICC ODI rankings after four years. Kohli is next scheduled to play in the July ODI series against England.
