UG, PG Admissions in Odisha to Start Early; New Academic Session from July Second Week

The Odisha Higher Education Department has announced an early start to UG and PG admissions this year, with the new academic session scheduled to begin from the second week of July. Universities have been directed to complete examinations and declare results on time.

Undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) admissions in Odisha will be conducted earlier this year, as the Higher Education Department has issued a revised academic calendar to streamline the process. The new academic session across universities and colleges in the state is set to commence from the second week of July.

As part of the revised timeline, the Common PG Entrance Test (CPET) will also be held earlier than usual. The department has aligned the entrance examination schedule with its broader objective of ensuring timely admissions and smooth academic operations across higher educational institutions.

In a directive issued to all universities and undergraduate colleges, the department has instructed authorities to strictly adhere to the academic calendar. Institutions have been asked to complete all final semester undergraduate examinations by April 30 without fail.

The department has emphasized that any delay in conducting examinations could adversely impact the admission cycle and disrupt the start of the academic session. To prevent such setbacks, authorities have also mandated that examination results must be declared within one month of completion.

Officials stated that the move aims to ensure that students do not face delays in pursuing higher education. Timely publication of results will also help students from Odisha apply to central universities and other institutions across the country without procedural hurdles.

The revised schedule is part of the state government’s effort to improve academic planning and maintainconsistency in higher education timelines.
