Veteran singer Udit Narayan is facing fresh controversy after his first wife, Ranjana Narayan Jha, lodged a complaint at the Women’s Police Station in Supaul, Bihar. In her complaint, she has levelled serious allegations against the singer, his two brothers, and his second wife, Deepa Narayan.
Ranjana, who claims she married Udit Narayan in 1984 according to Hindu rituals, alleged that in 1996 she was taken to a Delhi hospital under the pretext of medical treatment. She claimed that her uterus was surgically removed without her knowledge or consent as part of a criminal conspiracy. According to her statement, she became aware of the procedure years later during subsequent medical consultations.
She further alleged that after Udit Narayan moved to Mumbai for his career, she learned through media reports about his second marriage. Ranjana also claimed that she faced verbal abuse and denial of entry when she attempted to visit him in Mumbai and later at his family home in Nepal. Since then, she says she has been residing at her parental home.
Ranjana stated that she had previously approached the Family Court in Supaul and the Women’s Commission. According to her, Udit Narayan had acknowledged her as his wife during earlier proceedings.
The Women’s Police Station has confirmed that the allegations relate to incidents dating back nearly 30 years. Authorities have begun an investigation, and an FIR will be registered based on the outcome of the probe.
