Two Youths Killed as Unidentified Vehicle Hits Motorcycle on Dhamara–Basudevpur Road in Odisha

Two youths, Deepak Raut and Chinmay Malik, died after their motorcycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle on Odisha’s Dhamara–Basudevpur road. The accident highlights ongoing road safety concerns on this busy stretch, with local residents blaming overspeeding and overloaded trucks.

A tragic road accident on the Dhamara–Basudevpur road in Odisha’s Bhadrak district claimed the lives of two youths, Deepak Raut and Chinmay Malik, both JCB operators from Jajpur. The incident occurred near Parapokhari Square when an unidentified vehicle rammed into their motorcycle late on Monday night, leaving the riders critically injured.

Local residents and police personnel rushed the victims to Basudevpur Community Health Centre, but both were declared dead on arrival. The stretch has witnessed several accidents recently, largely attributed to the heavy movement of iron-laden trucks, overspeeding, and overloading.

Residents have repeatedly demanded stricter enforcement of speed limits and truck regulations, staging protests in the past, but their appeals to authorities have not resulted in significant action. Police have launched an investigation to identify the vehicle responsible, and further inquiries are ongoing.
