Daytime temperatures also remained low, with themaximum settling at 14.3°C, nearly four degrees below the seasonal average. High humidity, reaching95% in the morning, added to the lingering cold. The Meteorological Department has issued warnings fordense to very dense fog at isolated placesandcold wave to severe cold wave conditionsin the region. Residents are advised to take precautions, particularly during early morning and late-night hours.
Tuesday night,January 13, coinciding withLohri celebrations, is expected to be even colder, withminimum temperatures around 3°Cand dense fog likely to persist. Fog is expected to intensify during late-night and early-morning hours, potentially affecting travel.
The forecast indicates that cold conditions will continue over the next few days. OnJanuary 13, the maximum temperature is expected to reach15°C, while the minimum may dip to3°C. OnJanuary 14, partly cloudy skies with dense fog are expected, with daytime temperatures around14°Cand night temperatures near4°C.
FromJanuary 15 onwards, a slight improvement in night temperatures is anticipated, with minimums gradually rising toaround 6°Cand maximums hovering between15–16°C. However, skies are likely to remain mostly cloudy, and fog will continue during mornings and evenings.
Meteorologists note that minimum temperatures will remain mostly unchanged for the next three days before gradually rising by 2–4°C. Residents are advised todrive cautiously, use fog lights, avoid unnecessary travel, and wearadequate winter clothing, especially children and the elderly, to prevent cold-related health issues.
