Bomb Threat Triggers High Alert at Sambalpur Court; Security Tightened Across Odisha

The Sambalpur court complex in Odisha went into high alert on Thursday following a bomb threat received through email, prompting immediate intervention by security forces. According to sources, the anonymous email warned of an explosion at the court premises, leading police to activate emergency response protocols.

An anti-bomb squad, along with additional police personnel, was deployed both inside and around the court complex. A meticulous search operation was conducted to rule out the presence of any explosive device, while entry points and movement within the premises were tightly controlled as a precaution.

As of the latest update, no explosive materials were found. Police have launched a full-scale investigation to trace the origin of the threatening email and verify its authenticity. Earlier the same day, district courts in Cuttack and Deogarh also reported receiving similar email-based bomb threats, raising concerns about a coordinated attempt to disrupt judicial functioning in the state.

The DGP’s office issued a statement urging the public not to panic, confirming that enhanced security measures and continuous monitoring have been put in place.

“Police have taken cognizance of the anonymous email threats and initiated thorough investigation. Security has been intensified at all affected locations. The public is advised to cooperate and avoid panic,” the DGP office stated.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also contacted DGP Y.B. Khurania, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, and senior officials, directing them to conduct a detailed probe into the incident.
