TheCuttackDeputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Rishikesh Khilari, conducted an inspection of Choudwar Jail on Saturday. He was accompanied by Additional Superintendent of Police Minakshi Thakur and District Judge Manas Ranjan Barik.Choudwar Jail has frequently remained in the public spotlight due to a series of incidents in the past. Owing to the lack of stringent security measures inside the prison, two inmates managed to escape by scaling the jail boundary wall around three months ago.
Such incidents have raised serious concerns regarding the effectiveness of the existing security system.
Furthermore, some incidents of inmates allegedly committing suicide inside the jail have also been reported in the past. These occurrences have further intensified questions and criticism surrounding the overall security and supervision mechanisms of Choudwar Jail.
