The Government of Odisha has issued an official notification allowing senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Shri Deoranjan Kumar Singh, IAS (RR-1993), to continue holding the additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary to the Government in the Steel & Mines Department. The notification was released by the General Administration & Public Grievance Department from Bhubaneswar on February 5, 2026.
At present, Shri Singh is serving as Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary and Secretary to the Government in the Planning & Convergence Department. In view of administrative requirements and to ensure uninterrupted governance, the state government has entrusted him with the additional responsibility of overseeing the Steel & Mines Department as well.
The decision reflects the government’s confidence in Shri Singh’s administrative experience and leadership, particularly in handling critical departments that play a significant role in Odisha’s economic development. The Steel & Mines Department is considered one of the key revenue-generating departments of the state, making the role of its administrative head crucial for policy implementation and inter-departmental coordination.
The notification clearly states that the arrangement has been approved by the competent authority and will remain effective until further orders. Such additional charge assignments are commonly made to maintain administrative continuity and efficiency during transitional phases or vacancies in senior positions.
