The Odisha CID–Crime Branch has decided to move forward with a preliminary examination of allegations levelled against former 5T Chairman VK Pandian by seeking documentary and electronic evidence from the complainant.
According to an official communication, the Crime Branch has written to Surendra Panigrahi, president of the Bharatiya Bikash Parishad in Berhampur, requesting submission of all relevant documents and electronic records related to the allegations. The agency clarified that the inquiry will advance only after these materials are received and examined.
The letter states that the requested evidence is required to verify the allegations and determine whether a formal case can be initiated. The Crime Branch has specifically sought records related to meetings allegedly conducted by Pandian, which, as claimed in the complaint, violated established administrative procedures.
In his complaint to the CID–Crime Branch in Cuttack, Panigrahi alleged that Pandian, during his tenure as 5T Chairman, held several meetings in violation of the Odisha Business Rules, 1956. He claimed that these meetings were conducted without proper authorisation and outside the prescribed administrative framework, warranting investigation.
Sources said the Crime Branch has adopted a procedural approach by first calling for supporting evidence before proceeding further. Officials indicated that without documentary proof and electronic records, the allegations cannot be examined in detail under standard investigative norms.
The agency has not specified a timeline for completion of this preliminary stage. There has been no official response from VK Pandian regarding the allegations or the Crime Branch’s move to seek evidence. The matter remains at the evidence-collection stage, with further action dependent on the materials submitted by the complainant.
