NEET PG 2025 cut-off lowered for counselling; reserved categories reduced to 0 percentile

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially lowered the NEET-PG 2025 qualifying cut-off for Round 3 counselling, following approval from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The decision is aimed at filling a large number ofvacant postgraduate medical seatsfor the2025–26 academic session.

Cut-off lowered, ranks remain unchanged

NBEMS clarified that while thequalifying percentile has been reduced,NEET-PG 2025 ranks will remain exactly the sameas declared earlier. The relaxation only expandseligibility for counselling, not merit order.

NEET-PG 2025 results were announced onAugust 19, 2025, and the revised cut-offs were approved through a Health Ministry letter datedJanuary 9, 2026.

Strict checks at admission stage

NBEMS emphasised that eligibility under the revised cut-off isprovisional. All candidates will undergostrict verificationat the time of admission, including:

  • MBBS or FMGE aggregate marks verification

  • Face ID or biometric authentication

  • Cross-checking of documents used for tie-breaking

Anyincorrect or false informationmay lead tocancellation of candidature, and candidates using unfair means may face action from NBEMS, theMedical Counselling Committee (MCC), or state authorities.
