Odisha Woman Arrested for Smuggling Ganja Worth Rs 8 Lakh on Konark Express

Telangana Police arrested a 37-year-old woman from Odisha for allegedly smuggling 16 kg of ganja worth Rs 8 lakh while travelling from Bhubaneswar to Mumbai on the Konark Express. The arrest was made at Begumpet Railway Station in Hyderabad.

Telangana Police’s Railway EAGLE Force arrested Mamata Digal, a resident of Odisha’s Phulbani region, for allegedly smuggling ganja via train. Acting on specific intelligence, officials conducted a check on the Konark Express at Begumpet Railway Station in Hyderabad and recovered 16 kg of ganja concealed in two trolley bags. The contraband is estimated to be worth Rs 8 lakh. During interrogation, the accused confessed that she was transporting the drugs from Bhubaneswar to Mumbai for a Mumbai-based dealer named Ashok, who promised to pay her Rs 10,000 per suitcase. Police have launched a manhunt to trace the absconding kingpin.
