Producer Bhushan Kumar has strongly refuted rumours suggesting that Arijit Singh was compelled to recordGhar Kab Aaoge, a reimagined version of the iconic patriotic songSandese Aate Hai, for the upcoming filmBorder 2. The speculation gained momentum following Singh’s recent announcement that he would be stepping away from playback singing.
In an interview withHT City, Kumar dismissed the claims outright, stating, “Please call and ask Arijit, it’s all rubbish.” He clarified that the song was a collaborative effort featuring multiple artists, including Sonu Nigam, Roop Kumar Rathore, Vishal Mishra, and Diljit Dosanjh, and was not linked to any pressure on Singh.
Arijit Singh, 38, has since elaborated on his decision, explaining that it was the result of prolonged reflection rather than a reaction to any particular incident. In a statement shared on his private X account, the singer said that multiple factors influenced his choice and that he had finally gathered the courage to step away from playback singing.
Singh reassured fans that he would fulfil all pending professional commitments and that some of his recorded work would still be released this year. He also clarified that his decision does not mark an end to music altogether, as he plans to explore new musical directions and return to Indian classical music.
Citing creative restlessness, Singh explained that he often feels the need to evolve artistically and experiment beyond conventional playback formats. He also expressed a desire to make space for emerging talent in the industry. His most recent playback song isMaatrubhumifrom the filmBattle of Galwan.
