In a unique crossover between cricket and technology, India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill joined Sundar Pichai at the Google office in Gurugram, where he delivered an impromptu masterclass on playing the short ball.

During the interaction, Gill explained the technical aspects of executing the pull shot, emphasising the importance of arm extension for control and timing. He also revealed his personal approach of using wrists and hip movement when forced to play late, turning a challenging situation into a scoring opportunity.

The session became even more engaging when Sundar Pichai himself picked up the bat and tried the technique, creating a memorable moment blending India’s passion for cricket with the world of technology.

Gill, who is currently on a break from international cricket, last played in the ODI series against New Zealand and the Test series against South Africa. Meanwhile, India’s T20 team continues its strong run in the T20 World Cup 2026.
