As many as seven distinguished individuals from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were conferred the Padma Shri on Sunday for their outstanding contributions in various fields. The awardees include renowned surgeon Dr G V Rao, genetic scientist Kumarasamy Thangaraj, and noted Telugu actors Rajendra Prasad and Murali Mohan.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy congratulated the awardees and also praised cancer specialist Dr Nori Dattatreyudu for receiving the Padma Bhushan. From Telangana, awardees were recognised in the fields of science, engineering, art, medicine, and posthumous service.
From Andhra Pradesh, Garimella Balakrishna Prasad and Vempaty Kutumba Sastry were honoured for their contributions to culture, literature, and education. Andhra Pradesh Governor Abdul Nazeer and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu extended heartfelt congratulations, highlighting the awardees’ dedication and service to the nation.
