Public concern over the safety of Odisha’s Ama Bus service is intensifying following a series of accidents in Bhubaneswar, Puri, and other parts of the state. Commuters have reported collisions with two-wheelers and pedestrians, while videos of incidents circulating online have heightened anxiety.
Experts emphasize strict adherence to traffic norms, regular vehicle maintenance, driver alertness, and sobriety checks. Bikash Mohapatra, a road safety specialist, called for minimum safe distances between vehicles and better enforcement of safety protocols.
Commuters are demanding greater transparency from the City and Rural Transport (CRUT) authorities, urging immediate corrective measures to ensure that Ama Bus operations are safe and reliable across Odisha.
