Amid debates over the VB-G RAM G scheme, Karnataka Opposition Leader R Ashoka launched a sharp attack on the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government. He claimed the state’s finances are so strained that it cannot provide the 40% share of funds required for the scheme, calling the treasury “empty.”
Ashoka also alleged that Congress had previously misappropriated funds from the MGNREGA scheme and praised the VB-G RAM G scheme for improved transparency under the Central government. He noted that MGNREGA’s allocation has increased from ₹2 lakh crore during the Manmohan Singh era to ₹8 lakh crore today.
The BJP leader criticized Congress’ five-guarantee schemes, saying programs like Griha Lakshmi are unfunded, and urged the party to accept the VB-G RAM G scheme instead of stalling it. He also accused senior Congress leader KC Venugopal of using Karnataka’s funds for other states’ elections, claiming the state government is effectively under Venugopal’s control.
