President Droupadi Murmu performed Pind Daan rituals at Shvetaganga in Puri and offered prayers at the Sri Jagannath Temple during her ongoing Odisha visit.

On the third day of her Odisha visit, President Droupadi Murmu performed traditional Pind Daan rituals in Puri and offered prayers at the 12th-century Sri Jagannath Temple, accompanied by the Odisha Governor and Chief Minister.The day began with the President’s visit to the sacred Swargadwar area, where she performed the Pind Daan rites—a significant Hindu ritual conducted to pay homage to one’s ancestors and seek peace for departed souls. The rituals were carried out in accordance with age-old customs under the guidance of local priests, amid tight security arrangements and traditional ceremonial protocols. Puri, considered one of the holiest destinations for ancestral rites, holds special spiritual importance for such rituals, drawing devotees from across the country.President Murmu’s engagement with Odisha’s spiritual traditions during her visit has been seen as a reaffirmation of the state’s rich heritage, blending constitutional dignity with cultural reverence and reinforcing the timeless bond between faith, tradition, and public life.
