Plus II exam evaluation: Odisha considers digitising the assessment process.

Odisha is considering digitising the Plus II exam evaluation from this academic year, introducing online answer script checking and AI-based monitoring to enhance transparency. The move aims to reduce malpractice and ensure faster processing and declaration of results.

The evaluation process for Plus II (+2) annual examinations in Odisha may see a significant overhaul from the current academic year, with answer scripts likely to be assessed online, School and Mass Education (S&ME) Minister Nityananda Gond indicated on Tuesday.

The Minister said the department is preparing to introduce a digitised evaluation system, particularly for the Arts stream, to ensure greater transparency and efficiency. He noted that AI surveillance would play a key role in minimising malpractice and enabling the smooth conduct of examinations. However, the rollout will depend on budget approval, which is still awaited.

Gond stated that a detailed proposal has already been prepared and necessary funds will be allocated once approvals are secured. The online evaluation mechanism is expected to help complete the checking of answer sheets within a fixed timeframe and speed up the declaration of results.

Reiterating the government’s focus on exam security, the Minister said AI-powered cameras would continue to be used to protect question papers, recalling their successful deployment during the previous Higher Secondary Examination to prevent leaks. He added that once the proposal is cleared, the system will be implemented with all supporting arrangements in place to ensure time-bound and transparent evaluation.
