‘Open Day-2026’ to Motivate Youth Towards Agriculture

Modern Agriculture, Innovation, and New Employment Opportunities: Inspiring the Next Generation

Cuttack, January 12: Highlighting the importance of agricultural education in India, Professor Dr. Tej Partap, Vice-Chancellor of Sri Sri University, said at ‘Open Day–2026’ that every child in the country should acquire knowledge about agriculture. He emphasized that engaging models and practical skills at the primary level are essential to spark students’ interest in the positive aspects of agriculture.

Professor Dr. S. Kumaraswamy, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, thanked the participating schools for encouraging students to explore agriculture, while Executive Registrar Professor Dr. Anil Kumar Sharma explained how modern agriculture has emerged as a significant source of employment for youth.

The event, organised by the Faculty of Agriculture, aimed to create awareness among students about advanced agricultural technologies, farm machinery, innovative projects, and sustainable farming practices. Around 800 students from schools in and around Cuttack participated, accompanied by their principals and teachers, under the guidance of Dr. Abhinab Mishra, School Network Coordinator.

An educational agricultural exhibition was also held, showcasing scientific models on farming techniques, crop production, irrigation systems, modern agricultural practices, and value-added products. Well-designed stalls featuring agricultural and food products drew keen interest from students, many of whom said the initiative helped them find simple and practical answers to questions they had about agriculture and innovation.
