In a move aimed at enhancing public convenience, the State Transport Authority has announced that e-challan payments can now be made both online and offline inOdisha.
The offline payment facility will also be particularly beneficial for residents of areas with poor or unreliable internet connectivity, ensuring that they are not inconvenienced while paying traffic fines.
As per official sources, this step has been taken to make the e-challan system more inclusive and citizen-friendly, allowing people from all sections of society to comply with traffic regulations without facing technical hurdles. As per the new arrangement, specific officials will be assigned the responsibility of collecting cash payments at Regional Transport Offices (RTO). This initiative is expected to provide relief to people who are unable to complete online payments due to non-updated mobile numbers and, as a result, do not receive OTPs required for digital transactions.
