Odisha Achieves 100% Revenue Village Electrification, Survey Underway for Remaining Households

Odisha has achieved full electrification of all revenue villages, Deputy CM and Energy Minister KV Singh Deo informed the Assembly. A fresh survey is being conducted to identify households still without power connections.

The Odisha government has announced that electrification has been completed in all revenue villages across the state. The milestone was shared in the State Assembly by Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister KV Singh Deo.

Responding to queries from legislators, Singh Deo stated that while village-level electrification has been fully achieved, some individual households are yet to receive electricity connections. To bridge this gap, power distribution companies have been directed to conduct a comprehensive field survey to identify and connect the remaining homes.

Progress Since 2024

According to the Minister, 35,741 households have been electrified since 2024. Among districts, Mayurbhanj recorded the highest number of new connections at 3,636, reflecting targeted efforts in tribal and remote regions.

However, certain gaps remain. In three blocks under the Bangiriposi Assembly segment in Mayurbhanj, 1,059 households are still without electricity. The government has initiated measures to expedite electrification in these areas.

DISCOM-wise Data

Data presented in the Assembly showed that:

  • 11,701 households were connected under TPWODL

  • 9,954 under TPNODL

  • 7,769 under TPSODL

  • 6,317 under TPCODL

The Minister clarified that eligible households will receive electricity under state government schemes based on recommendations from District Electricity Committees.

Additionally, tribal habitations will be covered under the PM-JANMAN programme to ensure last-mile connectivity in remote and underserved regions.

Continued Focus on Universal Coverage

Recently, Subarnapur village in Ganjam district was electrified following directions from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during a Collectors’ conference.

Officials emphasized that although revenue village electrification is complete, the state government remains committed to achieving universal household electrification, particularly in remote and fringe habitations.
