A female MBA student was found dead in her hostel room in Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar on Monday, prompting a police investigation.
The student, who hailed from Dhenkanal, was pursuing her studies at a management college in the area. Infocity Police Station officials reached the spot after receiving information and registered a case of unnatural death.
The body was sent to Capital Hospital Bhubaneswar for post-mortem examination. Police have also seized her mobile phone and laptop as part of the investigation.
Authorities are questioning her roommates and examining her recent contacts to understand the circumstances leading to the incident. While initial reports suggest she may have died by hanging, the exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
Further action will depend on the findings of the post-mortem and statements from the family, who are expected to arrive soon.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns around student stress and mental health, with authorities continuing their probe to determine all possible factors.
