Actress Malavika Mohanan has become the center of controversy following remarks she made about the acting skills of female actors in the Tamil and Telugu film industries. In a viral interview with Galatta Plus, Mohanan stated, “Tamil and Telugu actresses don’t bother looking at their lines” and often rely on stock expressions in scenes. She explained that some actors merely match their lip movements to dialogues in dubbing without genuine emotion.

The comments quickly triggered backlash online, with fans and critics highlighting Mohanan’s own work in films such asMasterandThe Raja Saab, which faced criticism for performances and expressions. Social media users pointed out the irony of her remarks, with many suggesting she should focus on her own craft.

This is not the first time Mohanan has faced scrutiny over her acting. During an earlier Ask Me Anything session, she responded sharply to a question about attending acting classes.

Despite the controversy, Mohanan continues her film career and is set to appear in the upcoming Tamil filmSardar 2.
