Amid growing tensions within the Karnataka Congress, R Ashok accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of using state intelligence to monitor legislators perceived to be aligned with Deputy CM DK Shivakumar. Ashok alleged that a team led by a senior police officer had been tasked with tracking movements, meetings, and phone conversations of certain MLAs, while also curtailing constituency funds to protect the Chief Minister’s position.
The government, represented by IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge, dismissed the allegations as unsubstantiated and politically motivated. However, the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, backed Ashok, claiming the BJP leader acted on credible information.
This development highlights an intensifying internal power struggle within the Karnataka Congress, with political loyalties and surveillance claims dominating discourse ahead of future elections.
