Debuting in 2021, seven-member K-pop group Billie, consisting of MOON SUA, SUHYEON, SHEON, TSUKI, HARAM, SIYOON and HARUNA, have quietly built one of the most distinct discographies among fourth-generation girl groups.
Nearly a year after appendix: Of All We Have Lost marked Billlie’s return as a full group, the K-pop septet finds itself in a reflective yet forward-looking phase. The mini album didn’t just signal continuity after a challenging period; it quietly underscored how much the group had evolved, musically, emotionally, and as a unit. In an exclusive conversation with India Today, Billlie open up about the past year, their creative compass, navigating uncertainty, and why India feels closer than ever.
“Over the past year, we’ve each continued to practice steadily in our own positions while constantly thinking about new music,” SIYOON tells India Today. “Since our debut, I feel that Billlie’s music has continued to change and grow.” She recalls how defining their identity was once the group’s biggest challenge. “In the beginning, our biggest challenge was figuring out how to express Billlie’s unique identity through music.”
That uncertainty has slowly turned into clarity. “As time went on and we explored a wider range of sounds and emotions, our direction as a team became clearer with each promotion, and the trust among members has grown much stronger.”

SUHYEON describes the past year as a period of constant self-reflection. “I think the past year has been a time of constantly questioning and defining what it truly means to be Billlie,” she says. The focus, she explains, was on emotional honesty. “We focused a lot on reflecting the tones and emotions that each member can immerse themselves in most naturally.”
The goal was consistency beyond genre. “Even when the mood of a song changes, maintaining an identity where people can say, ‘This feels like Billlie,’ has become the most important point for us.”
That process, she adds, changed how the song lived on stage. “Thanks to that, we were able to understand the song much more deeply and express the song more delicately in a natural way not only in the recording studio but also on stage.”
MOON SUA was struck by the imagery in the lyrics. “When I saw the lyrics with unique expressions like ‘ (softly melting),’ ‘ (purr),’ and ‘ (dizzily)’ that paint a vivid imagery, I couldn’t help but admire how she could write a song like this.” The experience, she says, left a lasting impression. “It inspired me to create a song that’s just as charming someday.”
From The Billage of Perception era to their more recent work, Billlie’s sound has widened without losing its emotional anchor.
“When we first debuted, our main focus was on how to express and unfold our own story,” SIYOON says. “Now, I think we’re in a phase where we’re expanding Billlie’s color more freely within that narrative.” As their palette has grown, she adds, “our sound has also become much more diverse.”
For SUHYEON, the constant has always been intention. “What has never changed since debut is our commitment to expressing Billlie’s unique emotional line and storytelling through music.” No matter the genre, she says, “we always build from our core color.”
That evolution was also visible in 2025, when the group released soundtrack singles such as The Savior (Japanese version) and contributed Lady Marmalade to the KPOPPED soundtrack.
