India Women created history by defeating Australia women's national cricket team by 17 runs in the third and final T20I at Adelaide Oval on February 21, securing a landmark bilateral series victory.
After electing to bat, India posted a strong total of 176/6, powered by a magnificent 82 off 55 balls from Smriti Mandhana and a crucial 59 from Jemimah Rodrigues. Their 121-run partnership laid the foundation for a competitive score.
In response, Australia struggled under pressure and were restricted to 159/9 in 20 overs. Young spinner Shreyanka Patil starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets, while Shree Charani also picked up three crucial wickets.
Australia’s resistance was led by Ashleigh Gardner, who scored 57, but India’s disciplined bowling ensured victory.
This win marked India’s second bilateral T20I series triumph over Australia and ended Australia’s dominant run of seven consecutive T20I series wins. India now lead the multi-format series and will next face Australia in the ODI series starting February 24.
