Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan was moved from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad under extraordinary security for urgent medical treatment related to his worsening eyesight.
The jailed founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was transported in a heavily guarded convoy. At the hospital, doctors administered a specialised anti-VEGF injection, a treatment used to manage retinal disease and preserve vision. A medical board evaluated his overall health and declared him clinically stable before performing the eye procedure.
According to hospital officials, the surgery was successful, and Khan remained stable throughout. He was discharged the same day and sent back to jail with follow-up care instructions.
His health condition has intensified political tensions in Pakistan, with family members and party leaders alleging medical neglect. His son claimed Khan has lost most of the vision in one eye. Meanwhile, prominent Indian cricket figures such as Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, and Sourav Ganguly have appealed for proper medical care for the former cricketer-turned-politician.
