The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Warning for dense fog in several districts of Odisha, even as dry weather conditions are expected to prevail across the state over the next three days.
According to the IMD, there will be no significant change in minimum (night) temperatures during the next 24 hours. However, temperatures are expected to rise gradually by 2–3°C thereafter, bringing slight relief from the prevailing cold conditions in some parts of the state.
Over the past 24 hours, minimum temperatures recorded a noticeable drop across various regions. Night temperatures fell by 2–4°C at several places in South Coastal Odisha and by 2–3°C at isolated locations in North Coastal and South Interior Odisha. In other parts of the state, temperatures remained largely unchanged.
In terms of deviation from normal levels:
Interior Odisha recorded temperatures markedly below normal by around 5°C in one or two places.
Coastal Odisha experienced temperatures below normal by 2–3°C in many areas.
Several other districts reported near-normal minimum temperatures.
Day 1 (Valid up to 8:30 AM IST, February 18, 2026)
Dry weather is very likely to prevail across all districts.
However, shallow to moderate fog is expected during early morning hours in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, and Rayagada.
IMD Yellow Warning:Dense fog is likely at isolated pockets in Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, and Dhenkanal districts.
Day 2 (Feb 18–19, 2026)
Dry weather will continue statewide, with shallow to moderate fog during early morning hours in several coastal and interior districts.
Day 3 (Feb 19–20, 2026)
Dry weather is expected to prevail with no significant weather systems affecting Odisha.
With dense fog likely in several coastal and adjoining interior districts, commuters and motorists are advised to exercise caution, particularly during early morning travel. Reduced visibility may disrupt vehicular movement in affected areas.
