Virat Kohli’s remarkable form has propelled him back to the top of the ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings for the first time since July 2021. The star India batter reclaimed the No. 1 spot after overtaking teammate Rohit Sharma, following his match-winning knock of 93 off 91 balls against New Zealand in the first ODI at Vadodara.
This marks the 11th time Kohli has reached the summit of the ODI rankings, powered by a string of dominant performances. His recent run includes scores of 135, 102 and an unbeaten 65 in the home series against South Africa in November–December, along with a fluent 74 not out against Australia in the third ODI in Sydney in October.
Kohli has crossed the fifty-run mark in each of his last five innings, amassing 469 runs from five matches with two centuries and three half-centuries. He now leads the rankings with 785 rating points, while Rohit Sharma has slipped to third with 775 points.
Kohli first attained the No. 1 ranking in October 2013 and has now spent a total of 825 days at the top—the most by any Indian batter. He currently stands 10th on the all-time list, topped by West Indies great Vivian Richards, who held the position for 2,306 days.
New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell moved ahead of Rohit to second place after scoring 84 in the first ODI and sits just one point behind Kohli with 784 ratings, setting up a tight contest among the top three batters.
Elsewhere in the rankings, India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul climbed one spot to 11th in the ODI batting charts, while fast bowler Mohammed Siraj jumped five places to 15th in the ODI bowling rankings.
