In a shocking incident, police have arrested five staff members of a private English medium school in Kendrapara district of Odisha in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a Class 7 student.
According to Odisha Police, those arrested include one female teacher, three male teachers, and a peon. The arrests were made by Rajkanika police after registering a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. All accused are currently being interrogated as part of the ongoing investigation.
The case came to light after the victim’s mother filed a written complaint with the Child Welfare Committee in Kendrapara. Following the complaint, the committee initiated an inquiry, recorded the survivor’s statement, and visited the school premises.
Police had initially detained several staff members for questioning before making the arrests. Authorities also visited the victim’s residence and continued their investigation to establish the full sequence of events and individual roles.
Officials stated that the investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on findings. The incident has raised serious concerns about student safety and security in educational institutions.
