A devastating road accident in Maharashtra’s Amravati district claimed five lives and left seven others critically injured after a pickup van plunged into a deep ravine on Monday. The incident took place on the dangerous Ranigaon Ghat road under Dharani taluka, around two kilometres ahead of Shivazhiri.
According to officials, the driver lost control of the vehicle while navigating the narrow hill road, causing it to veer off the edge and fall into a deep gorge. Five passengers died on the spot due to the severity of the crash, while seven others sustained serious injuries.
Rescue operations were difficult due to the steep terrain and narrow road conditions. Police, local authorities, and villagers worked together to rescue the injured, who were later shifted to the Dharani Sub-District Hospital for treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and are working to identify the victims and verify the number of passengers travelling in the vehicle.
