S.A. Chandrasekhar Alleges Political Pressure on Vijay After His Entry Into Politics

Filmmaker S.A. Chandrasekhar has claimed that actor-turned-politician Vijay is facing political pressure following his political debut, taking aim at Tamil Nadu’s long-ruling Dravidian parties and questioning media freedom in the state.

Filmmaker and actor S.A. Chandrasekhar, father of actor-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay, has alleged that his son is being subjected to political pressure after entering active politics in Tamil Nadu. Addressing the media, Chandrasekhar took a swipe at the Dravidian parties that have governed the state for over six decades, claiming that Vijay’s political rise has unsettled established power structures.

Chandrasekhar suggested that pressure is being exerted on Vijay through multiple channels and hinted that the delay in the release of the film Jana Nayagan was politically motivated rather than due to creative or commercial reasons. He further criticised the timing of government welfare schemes, alleging that relief measures were introduced only after prolonged public hardship.

Referring to public sentiment, Chandrasekhar claimed that many women voters support Vijay politically despite accepting government benefits. He also raised concerns about media freedom, alleging that independent voices are being silenced under the current political climate.

Warning against the use of cinema as a political tool, Chandrasekhar said films should not be used to exert pressure or blackmail Vijay. Emphasising his son’s resolve, he stated that Vijay is no longer focused on films and remains confident about his political future despite challenges.

Chandrasekhar also revealed that Vijay has been advised by supporters to contest elections independently rather than align with any political party. Taking a dig at the Congress, he said the party has weakened due to repeated alliances and could regain relevance by supporting Vijay’s leadership.
