The Jajpur district administration launched an eviction drive at a farmhouse allegedly linked to former BJD MLA Pranab Balabantaray at Panturi under Dharmasala tehsil, citing illegal encroachment of government land.
Authorities deployed heavy machinery, including JCBs, and a strong police presence to demolish boundary walls and structures constructed on the disputed land. According to officials, the total enclosed area measured around 12 acres and 88 decimals, out of which approximately 1 acre and 10 decimals were identified as government land under unauthorized occupation.
Sources said a goat farm had been operating inside the premises, and portions built on encroached land were removed during the operation. Officials confirmed the eviction was conducted after proper land record verification and in accordance with legal procedures.
The administration stated that the reclaimed land will be restored to government possession, and further action may follow based on ongoing verification and investigation.
