Bhubaneswar: Panic broke out near Rajmahal Square in Bhubaneswar after an intoxicated man allegedly sat on the railway track, forcing the Amrit Bharat Express to stop and raising serious concerns over railway safety.
The incident occurred as the train was approaching Bhubaneswar railway station. Railway authorities immediately halted the train as a precaution, ensuring passenger safety. The man remained seated on the track for nearly six minutes, causing panic among passengers and staff. Fortunately, the train was moving at a slow speed, preventing any major mishap.
RPF, GRP Detain AccusedPersonnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) arrived at the spot and detained the intoxicated man, reportedly a resident of the Phalikia slum area, for questioning. No injuries were reported.
Railway officials said the incident temporarily disrupted train movement and underscored the need for stricter monitoring and security along railway tracks. The event has renewed concerns about public safety and unauthorised access to railway lines.
