A cyclonic circulation hovering over the southeast Bay of Bengal, extending up to 1.5 kilometres above mean sea level, continues to persist. However, its immediate impact on Odisha remains limited.
Instead of widespread rain or stormy weather, the state is preparing for a gradual rise in both day and night temperatures over the coming days.
During the past 24 hours, light rainfall was recorded at isolated places in Coastal Odisha, including Nayagarh, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam and Gajapati. The rest of the state remained largely dry with mostly clear skies.
Temperature trends showed variation across districts. At a few locations, minimum temperatures dropped by 2–3°C, while at others they rose by nearly 3°C. In parts of Interior Odisha, night temperatures were recorded up to 5°C above normal at isolated places.
Jharsuguda recorded the highest maximum temperature in the plains at 35.8°C, whereas Rourkela registered the lowest minimum temperature at 12.2°C, reflecting significant day-night variation.
According to the forecast, maximum (daytime) temperatures are likely to rise by 2–3°C across Odisha over the next three days, with no major change thereafter. Minimum (night) temperatures are also expected to increase by a similar margin before stabilising.
Dry weather conditions are predicted to prevail statewide for the next three days.
However, residents of Balasore, Bhadrak and Kendrapada may experience shallow to moderate fog during early morning hours over the next two days, which could affect visibility for commuters.
At present, no weather warnings have been issued for any district in the state.
