In a major legal development, a commercial court has directed the seizure of office equipment and assets belonging to the Director of Land Records and Survey office in Cuttack to recover pending dues of Rs 9.44 crore. The order came after a private firm based in Silvassa filed a petition seeking clearance of its outstanding payments.
Earlier, on February 18, officials reportedly attempted to carry out the attachment process, but the situation turned dramatic when employees allegedly locked the office premises and remained absent to prevent the seizure. The incident highlighted the seriousness of the dispute and delayed the execution of the court’s order.
In its latest directive, the court has instructed authorities to complete the confiscation of assets by March 10 to recover the dues. The move has raised administrative concerns, as such attachment proceedings against a key government office are rare.
Further legal and administrative steps are expected as the deadline approaches, and the case continues to draw attention within official circles.
